We just started D-Group last week and I am so glad that I found this great group of ladies. D-Group stands for Discipleship Group. Here's more info about these groups started by Tara Leigh Cobble. We meet every Thursday on zoom over my lunch break. There are 8 sessions per year and each session lasts 6 weeks. For Sessions one and two this year, we are studying The Apostles' Creed (Good Book Guides) by Tim Chester. 

Last Thursday, we met each other on zoom and had our Launch Party. It was mostly a time to get to know each other and a chance to go over the schedule and packet and talk about how the rest of the session will run. We also went over the weekly challenge, watched the Week One Video together, and assigned roles to some of the members. I was assigned Time Keeper, so I am in charge of keeping us on track while we're on zoom. Hopefully, I do well at this job. 😅

One of the things we have to do each session is to memorize a passage of scripture. In this session, we are memorizing John 3:1-8, but it's divided up into smaller chunks each week until the last week when we say the whole passage from memory. So, for week one, we had to memorize John 3:1-2 and try to recite it at our next meeting. I kind of slacked off and didn't really work on my memory verse much until yesterday morning. This was bad because week two of D-Group was yesterday at noon and the first thing on the agenda was reciting memory verses. 😬 I didn't do terribly, but I definitely didn't have it memorized. I mostly paraphrased and that's not good. So I decided I need to put the wallpaper on my phone and I needed to create a recording of myself saying the next set of verses so I can do better next week.

I will keep working on my scripture memory, and I'll post an update on how it's going. I think I will also write about the chapter we are doing each week and my thoughts on the questions. Until then!  

Raegan is 20 now (almost 21) and she says that a lot: "it's been a minute." It has been a minute. A very, very long minute. To be exact, it's been 14 years, 5 months, and 13 days since my last post. 

I was reading back on my blog post last night from Christmas Eve 2005 and it brought back a flood of memories. I shared it with Raegan and she said, "I got so many flashbacks reading this. I loved those holidays at aunt mary and uncle Dave’s. I also love uncle bills honorary mention. I missed his beans this thanksgiving 🥺, hopefully he made them for everybody in heaven this year. For the record: deviled eggs are still my favorite eggs." Uncle Bill passed away this past September so this was the first Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays without him. He always made the most delicious baked beans! He'll be missed for many more reasons than that, but it's one of the things that always comes to mind when I think about him. Rest in Peace Uncle Bill. 

We spent Thanksgiving this year at home, in Georgia. My sisters, Sarah and Megan, and their families joined Griffin and me at our house again. The first time we did that was Thanksgiving 2020. That was the Thanksgiving when everything caught on fire in the oven 🤦. Okay, not everything, but there were large flames that did not go out quickly. The food was still delicious and no one was injured. All's well that ends well, right?

This was Raegan's second year participating in Vacation Bible School and she absolutely loves it! This year's theme was Outrigger Island (last year was Game Day Central). Both years were a ton of fun. Last year I worked on the Recreation Team so we played games and had fun with the kids out in the sun. This year, I was on the Music Team and that was also a blast. I think I actually liked being involved with the music team better because I got to see the kids learning the songs and the dance moves instead of just seeing them perform on Family Night. It was awesome! It is so neat to see God working in their little lives :)

ok, so niki tagged me twice ... i didn't even realize the first one because i haven't been on blogger for a while, but i figured i better complete at least one of them. so here's the first one that i got tagged in ...

p.s. the second tag is writing 7 weird things about myself ... i'm really not all that normal, but i'm still gonna have to give that one some thought ....

anway ... here goes that first one ...

I kind of went MIA for over a year but I'm back! A TON has happened since November of 2006. I graduated from Purdue with my BA in Education in May and started teaching 6th grade at a local middle school in August. I love my job and my students ... even though some days I think, "what have I gotten myself into?!?!"




Raegan graduated from preschool in May and then started kindergarten in August and she is loving it. Although she might tell you otherwise if you asked her .... aren't all kids required to say they hate school even if they secretly enjoy it? Raegan has made quite a few little friends in her class and one of them even lives in the same apartment complex as us. So they play together after school quite often.
