Learning a lot

I've really actually been enjoying this semester so far. I don't have any fun classes at all like Art or Music, but I feel like I've learned so much more in the past 3 weeks then I've ever learned in any 3 week period of time in any other semester. I'm sure I could credit part of that learning to the fact that I've actually done 90% of the assigned reading for most of my classes (100% for some of them) and I've been really paying attention in class. Whatever the reason, I wish I would have started this earlier in my College years. ;-)

Today I met my second graders who I'll be spending the next 13 weeks with. I'm excited. They were a bit out of control today, but I think thats partly because they had a subsitute teacher. The school where I'll be doing my TIP experience is really neat. They are an open concept school so their are no doors on any of the classrooms and there actually weren't even walls between the classrooms but about 10 years ago they put up partitions that can be opened an closed as needed. I think the concept is really neat.

So for Block IV I'll be spending a lot of one-on-one time with 2 students from the second grade class. The students have not been assigned to me yet, but I'm anxious to get started with them on Thursday. We'll be doing a Get to Know You activity, so that should be fun. I think I'm going to have them make a poster or decorate their folder with fun facts about themselves. We'll see.

Well, time to get some more reading done!

sounds like a busy semester. but practical experience is always fun.

It has been a pretty productive semester thus far. A lot better than Block 3...that's for sure. Plus...you have every class with me! Duh...that means you'll learn more ;) Just kidding! I really hope our second graders are better tomorrow. I'll be so sad if they're not haha. Well...see ya tomorrow!!! Joanna

I loved my time spent in observation-teaching.. though that was years ago!!
